The strongest pattern wasn't one GEO trick. Businesses with stronger AI visibility tended to have multiple independent sources reinforcing the same facts about who they are, where they operate, what they specialize in, and why they're credible. Reviews and Maps visibility were especially prominent for local consumer services, while professional services relied more heavily on documented expertise, projects, awards, publications, and industry authority.
This study identifies correlations, not AI ranking factors. The 60-prompt recommendation test was exploratory rather than a clean-room benchmark, and AI recommendations can vary by model, query, context, and time.
